This week I will not be working, and I am glad I chose not to. Like I predicted, the hours for coming into school for tpol's and graduation prep are sporadic at best.
There will be no work update blogging this week because I am not working.

This blog post covers the two weeks starting 6/4 and 6/11 respectivelyI have continued working these past two weeks, working two different job sites. The reason myself and a few other crew members alternate sites is for the simple fact of what stage the project is at. For example, if we prep footing to be poured, we have to wait for concrete and rather not working, we go to the other site that is not waiting on a third party. As a real world example, we had filled the entire dump trailer by the end of the day with concrete. Because we were not able to do much more, the next day was at a different job site in La Jolla. My pay rate does not change, and I get the opportunity to work with different commercial and private companies that work along side us.
I currently have no new photos of either job site because I have not gotten permission to do so. I am truly wondering what else to note. For a concrete worker the work doesn't change, I have no news to report. I have learned the most these past couple weeks and I have a few job offers to work in a trade. I am excited to see what is in store. I just remembered to post on my blog. Breaking and moving thousands of pounds of concrete and brick for 8 hours a day tends to take the mind away from a trivial matter like blog-posting. It is really only for the inevitable students that plan on sitting on their a$$ for all of endersession. I am required to be at my job at 7am, which requires me to make the absolute most of my afternoon to get good enough sleep. My prospective job turned to be a great option for endersession. I am working in construction for most of the time allotted. So far on the current job site, we are in a demolition stage (beginning stage) of a complete front yard renovation. As depicted, we had to first electric chisel the brick from the concrete. Then, with a construction grade, air powered pneumatic jack hammer we broke up the massive amounts of concrete that laid underneath and hand transported the massive chunks to smaller bits to the dump trailer. Due to common privacy, I will not share photos of the beautiful backyard that was finished pre-demolition of the front yard. I am making good money in between my responsibilities, and I have gotten two other job offers to work in another field of construction because of my history with construction as a whole that I will likely pursue soon. I am not sure how frequent my blog posts should be since I am not traveling, but I would say one a week is appropriate. I do not have time to post every day. For the first week of endersession, like it said on the many documents I turned in stating what I would be doing, I drove out to Mammoth Lakes, California with Phillippe de Kervor. We explored different areas and enjoyed snowboarding and skiing while we were there. We cooked our own food and got connected with nature. The cell service was not adequate for either of us (both on the same network carrier) to log into weebly and make a post. The first day was mostly getting there. I had made all preparations the day before, as I usually do for any trip. We arrived at the mountain at around 11am. After parking and getting our boots on, we hit the mountain for a half day of skiing. After that, we got checked into where we were staying at. This is where we realized our cell service did not work.
The second day was a full day of skiing. We got to the mountain early as to be already on the mountain when the snow was optimal. The third day was similar, got as many runs as possible in. We then ventured to Hot Creek, what used to be a popular hot spring destination is now unreasonably deemed too dangerous. We spent more of the day venturing the surrounding areas. We left for San Diego around noon on the last day. |
